"To save my leg and ultimately my life"(For those of you in Australia, tune into the new ABC News24 channel on free-to-air TV, on Friday night - August 13th @ 8.30pm or Saturday morning - August 14th @1.30am to see the original Australian story episode that introduced me to the remarkable work of Professor Gill and his PA research team in Lymphoma: called 'IN MY FATHERS FRIDGE'). Some of you may know already. I was admitted to the PA hospital on Wednesday, 4th August/10, due to a lingering chest infection....since having 1 day of IV anti-biotics, I'm feeling much better. Whilst I am in here, we will consult with some of the specialists, I am due to see and have another CSF Lumbar Puncture diagnostic test. I have spoken to professor Gill, after a clinical panel of doctors discussed my situation once again (11 of them)....in the end they were all in agreement that the scar tissue present on the CT/MRI on my sciatic nerve/S1 is most probably is not scar tissue at all, but probably some of the original disease, that was never fully removed. If this is the case. then, I have never been in remission at all. The team of doctors here at my new hospital are in full agreement that I require 6 Lumbar Puncture Chemotherapy doses, then 6 systemic strong chemotherapy treatments, followed by a stem cell rescue - using my own cells and further radiation to the area. This is probably all take at least 8 months. To save my leg and ultimately my life, we will be doing all possible with a large team of doctors to reverse the progression of this disease. Stay tuned....I will update frequently.
